1. Christian Cowan

Christian Cowan is the one to push the limits when it comes to fashion. Whether it’s sending a hot pink feather-sleeve dress down the runway or designing a collection inspired by The Powerpuff Girls. But this time his New York Fashion Week collection was more focused on glitters than on luxury. His collection featured three main prints this time: Cheetah/leopard, a green leaf-like print, and a firework print.

Although most of the silhouettes used were basic, they were well-constructed, and Cowan’s final runway look — a huge purple bow dress was the most memorable from the collection.

2. Rodarte

The fact that Rodarte hasn’t shown in New York City in a while, made everyone excited to see it back on schedule. They gave us romance, goth, and Bella Hadid for which we can’t thank them enough.

3. Coach

For the first time, a fashion show was also converted into a rock concert, by Coach at New York Fashion Week 2020 show. There was a live performance from  Debbie Harry with bright fluorescent lights beaming on every model that walked down the runway. It was a treat to the eyes. So, a big thank you to Coach for both a concert and some wardrobe inspiration.

4. Eckhaus Latta

Eckhaus Latta has been a hit on the runway and isn’t stopping anytime soon. Eclectic knit co-ords and painted denim are their identity. Eckhaus Latta does so well, makes everything easy, and never overcomplicates anything. This season shoes were by The Real Real and were pumps or loafers. The show was delightful reminding you to get dressed with joy and thoughtfulness.

The cut-out dresses, the capes, and of course the boots stole the show.  Every single thing that comes down the aisle at the Proenza Schouler show, you want it right then and there. Proenza Schouler especially designs for the women who want to get dressed right now.

6. Dion Lee

Australian designer Dion Lee is an inspiration for everyone to be a minimalist in the most maximalist way possible. This season’s collection started with a dark palette and progressed into shibori tie dyed blues and oranges. Using a fishnet texture, but in Lee’s case, it is to accent and echo the delicate chain links.

Shoulders, collar bones, and hips got the spotlight with thoughtful cut-out not-basic off the shoulder tops. The details were so intricate and special that you find yourself wishing the models would walk a little bit slower so that you could take it all in.

7. Collina Strada

The Collina Strada show was no less than a party. This runway show was an intimate one as viewers stood around a grass runway and models descended a spiral staircase to get there. For a change, the models did not walk down the runway instead they danced, jumped, twirled, rode on each other’s backs. They also interacted with the crowd and each other. The message given was about sustainability and the state of our planet.

8. Chromat

The show consisted of models working out in one room and dancing in another—the presentation was diverse, inclusive, and colorful. Workout gear was in mustard yellow with black stripes, turquoise, orange, pinks, and reds. The workout gear was accessorized with models wearing jewelry by Melody Ehsani and sneakers from Chromat’s collaboration with Reebok.

9. Sies Marjan

This season, the brand gave us its take on what one should wear in the countryside. That included clogs, chunky sweaters, thick socks, and lessons in elevated layering. Sies Marjan offered understated metallic skirts and dresses, floral suits, and big leather camping like bags.

10. Brandon Maxwell

Brandon Maxwell’s New York Fashion Week 2020 show was like a breath of fresh air. Thanks to Gabi and Lexi from Netflix’s Cheer every single runway look got applause. It made it one of the most exciting and memorable fashion show moments, even making the models crack a smile.
