The Weeknd gave Pop a bold new direction in his latest album or rather, a bold, vintage direction. ‘After Hours’ has a lot to owes to the synthwave music that came before it. But The Weeknd is too big a talent to make a genre-driven tribute. His mindblowing songwriting and performance is the reason that has made him one of the biggest stars of recent years.

3. Harry Styles- Fine Line

Harry Styles has made it clear what it means to be a rockstar with his album Fine Line. Styles sheds the apathetic attitude so often attributed to rock stars and ushers in an era of emotional masculine maturity through his soul-searching songs like “Falling,” while still managing to hit the high notes with his song “Adore You.”

4. Charli XCX- How I’m Feeling Now

Charli XCX absolutely broke the mold with How I’m Feeling Now which was written and recorded from quarantine. 5. Selena Gomez- Rare

After finally getting out of the on/off relationship with Justin Bieber, Selena Gomez made the kind of breakup album that is just like its name, rare. In her third solo album, Gomez urges her exes and her past self to “Look At Her Now,” and finds a way to “Dance Again,” and most of all, celebrate her newfound sense of self-love on her first No.1 hit, “Lose You To Love Me.”

6. Halsey- Manic

Halsey, through this album ‘Manic’, channels her experiences with toxic behavior in relationships. The record chronicles a lot of emotions through the lyrics, with Halsey at times revengeful at the same time finding empowerment through honesty. The record also sees a few unexpected collaborators, with Halsey leaving space for musicians like BTS’ Suga and Alanis Morissette to work through their own rage.

7. Lady Gaga- Chromatica

Chromatica is more like a return to form, and a return to the dance floor for Lady Gaga. The singles “Stupid Love” and “Rain on Me” have the Pop sensibilities of her early hits, and have hit the NO. 1 spot. Gaga has crafted a potent antidote to fight the quarantine blues. With his debut album How I’m Feeling, Lauv identifies the existential dread collectively felt by his peers and translated it into a pragmatic Pop. with his record, Lauv critiques the dejection and anxieties of a generation that grew up online and reminds listeners that they aren’t alone. 9. Banoffee- Look At Us Now Dad
